Cities are reaching mega sizes due to continuous growth in population and urbanization.  Future smart cities are expected to reverse the deterioration in the environment caused by all forms of human activity. This talk highlights key challenges for enabling environmental monitoring at scale, and presents research examples on how drone technologies can overcome these challenges.
